Spotlight Sorors

The members of St. Croix Alumnae Chapter proudly celebrate Soror Petra Victor, our current Chapter President. 

 

Soror Petra Victor grew up in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI). She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting, and also obtained a Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of the Virgin Islands. She is currently employed as Special Assistant to the Lieutenant Governor and is responsible for public relations affairs for the U.S. Virgin Islands Office of the Lieutenant Governor.

 

Soror Victor is a Diamond Life Member and was initiated at Sigma Omega Chapter on December 7, 1997 at the University of the Virgin Islands, Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. Soror Victor is among the ten collegiate women who hold the distinction of charter member of the chapter. Soror Victor was the chapter’s first recording secretary.

Sigma Omega Chapter implemented public service projects on campus as well as in the St. Croix community. These included voter registration drives, breast cancer awareness forums, HIV & AIDS awareness campaigns, Black History awareness and education, poetry and writing forums, roadside clean-up initiatives, and student volunteer services to the University. Soror Victor currently serves as President of the St. Croix Alumnae Chapter. Her other past positions with St. Croix Alumnae Chapter include Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Financial Secretary, Public Relations Committee Chair, Membership Services Chair, IMPACT Day of Service Chair, Delta EMBODI chair, and membership on many other chapter committees. She was also a member of the Eastern Region Special Projects and Events Committee.

Soror Victor founded Ribbons for a Cure, Inc., a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that promotes awareness on all issues related to cancer in the Virgin Islands. Established in 2017, Ribbons for a Cure, Inc. presently offers outreach education, emotional support for patients, survivors, caregivers, financial assistance, and scholarships to Virgin Islands residents. Soror Victor currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors.

Soror Victor volunteers with the American Cancer Society and actively participates in cancer awareness activities throughout the community. At present she is the Secretary for the St. Croix Central High School Class of 1989, Inc., Public Relations Officer for the St. Croix Classes of the 80s, Inc. and is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Virgin Islands Community AIDS Research and Education, Inc. Soror Victor is also a proud member of We Deh Yah Cultural Dancers, which dancing is her spiritual therapy. She is also an avid photographer and freelances for the Virgin Islands Daily News.
