Spotlight Soror
St. Croix Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is pleased to announce Lili Cornelius, our SPOTLIGHT SOROR.
Soror Lili Cornelius was initiated at the St. Croix Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in April 2019. In the tapestry of her life, woven with threads of love, resilience, and service, Soror Lili Cornelius has been blessed with a life filled with purpose, dedication, and unwavering commitment to making a difference. From humble beginnings to multifaceted roles as an educator, community organizer, and advocate, every chapter of her life has been infused with a passion for service and a desire to leave a lasting impact on those around her.
Growing up, Soror Cornelius learned the values of resilience, perseverance, and compassion from her loving family. These values became the guiding principles that shaped her journey and fueled her determination to overcome obstacles and pursue her dreams.
With a fervent belief in the power of education to transform lives, Soror Cornelius embarked on a career as an educator. For three decades, she had the privilege of nurturing young minds, instilling in them not only knowledge, but also the confidence to reach for the stars. She utilizes each day as an opportunity to sow the seeds of curiosity and ignite a passion for lifelong learning.
Outside the classroom, Soror Cornelius found her calling in advocacy and community service. Her involvement with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. further deepened her commitment to social justice and empowerment, amplifying her voice as a champion for change. Her tenure as the Recording Secretary further deepened her commitment to fostering communication and collaboration. As the chairperson of the Founders Day Committee, and member of the executive board, it is her goal to continue to uphold the ideals of the Sorority. In addition, as the secretary and board member of the non-profit organization Ribbons for a Cure, Inc., Soror Cornelius has dedicated herself to supporting individuals and families affected by cancer, offering them hope, resources, and a supportive network to lean on during their journey.
One of the most profound experiences of Soror Cornelius’ life was her involvement with the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life. For many years, and as a cancer survivor, Soror Cornelius walked alongside other survivors, caregivers, and fellow advocates, united in the mission to eradicate cancer and bring hope to others facing the disease. Through fundraising, awareness campaigns, and community outreach, they stood together as a beacon of hope in the fight against cancer.
As a wife and mother to a wonderful daughter, one of Soror Cornelius’ greatest joys come from the love and support of her family. They have been her rock, encouraging her to pursue her passions and standing by her side through every triumph and challenge.
As she reflects on the chapters of her life, Soror Cornelius is filled with gratitude for the countless blessings and opportunities that have come her way. Although her journey has been marked by trials and tribulations, it has also been illuminated by moments of profound joy, love, and triumph. As she looks to the future, she is committed to continuing her work as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., an advocate, educator, and beacon of hope, inspiring others to embrace life with courage, compassion, and resilience.
