Educational Development
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated currently sponsors several programs to promote the development of young girls and boys. These include Delta GEMS, Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy, and EMBODI. Delta chapters also conduct projects/programs designed to address the need for excellence in education and to confront the problems of women in our community of all age groups.
International Awareness & Involvement
Through the International Projects, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., enables Delta women to broaden their knowledge and understanding of nations other than their own, to increase their interest in international affairs, and assist in the solutions of world problems.
Physical & Mental Health
Concerns about our community's physical and mental health have not escaped Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Delta’s work in prevention and wellness translates into health education programs, health fairs and the provisions of health care services. Delta also supports medical research that examines illnesses that victimize specific communities.
Political Awareness & Involvement
The sorority’s concern for the public’s “need to know” and the accountability of elected officials has been the basis for public service programs in this area. Though non-partisan in nature and purpose, the general focus has been on those issues that greatly impact our community.
Economic Development
Financial planning, money management, consumer education, investments and employment opportunities are but a few of Delta’s concerns under Economic Development. Lack of economic independence is the source of many of the ills that plague our communities. This deficiency affects our access to power. Various programs have been implemented to help our communities begin the journey to financial independence and economic empowerment.
Five-Point Programmatic Thrust
Delta Sigma Theta provides an extensive array of public service initiatives through its Five-Point Program Thrust of Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.
