St. Croix Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is pleased to announce ATACHA RANDOLPH, our SPOTLIGHT SOROR.

Initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. into Sigma Psi April 2001 on the St. Thomas campus of the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), Soror Atacha Randolph, (formally Atacha Laurencin) found a place to continue her passion to serve. A 2001 graduate of UVI, Soror Randolph automatically transferred to the St. Thomas Alumnae Chapter and emersed herself into the sorority’s programmatic thrust. She participated in the Delta Gems Academy and was a member of the Membership Committee.
Her community involvement dates to Relay for Life held on St. Thomas serving as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (DST) St. Thomas Alumnae Chapter Team Co-Chair and Virgin Islands National Guard (VING) St. Thomas Team Chair. She energized the units to participate and to make this a spectacular event for the organizers and to boost DST and VING community involvement.
In 2005, Soror Randloph transferred to St. Croix to continue her employment with the Virgin Islands National Guard. She tried to maintain a long distance relation with her St. Thomas Alumnae Chapter but eventually demitted to St. Croix Alumnae Chapter. She immediately volunteered to serve on the Membership Committee. As a committee member she was involved in updating the Chapter’s directory, preparing tokens to members for Founders Day and Sisterhood Month. She served on the Social Action
Committee for serval years. Recognizing her passion for community service and the need to focus on the community service aspect within the Social Action Committee, then Chapter President Soror Sana Smith, made a personal plea to Soror Randolph to accept an offer to serve as the Community Service Chair. Reluctantly, Soror Randolph accepted the charge, knowing she had the obligation of raising 2 boys, Khalid now 9 years old and Kyle 5 years old.
From 2020, Soror Randolph led the community service projects of the chapter. Her detail oriented and organizational skills is an asset to execute the annual events with precision. Her innovative thinking provided an opportunity to collaborate with My Brothers Table and Collective Collaboration to continue the chapter’s 2022 annual Feed the Less Fortunate Project within the constraints of COVID-19. Under her leadership efforts, the chapter has ranked fourth highest dollar in 2022 and 2023 St. Croix Relay for Life. She elevated the chapter’s Annual Christmas Celebration at the Joseph E. James Terrance with the
distribution of a robe and a pair of Christmas compression socks sponsored by sorors, family, and friends, and pillows donated by Carlos Furniture, was gifted to each resident.
Soror Randloph would be up early in the morning doing Delta business. Learning how to schedule text messages, members were saved from post sunrise text messages of personal reminders to participate in one or more of the following community service projects: Regional Day of Service ‘Power of the Purse’, Sickle Cell Candlelight Walk, Pink on de Road Breast Cancer Walk, Feed the Less Fortunate Project and those mentioned above.
Under the mentorship of the late Mrs. Lydia Pickering, Soror Randolph became a charter member of the Rotaract Club-St. Croix, at UVI. Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women aged 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs focus on community and international service projects, leadership development and professional networking. Soror Randolph traveled to Jamica to attend the district meeting and to network with other Rotaract Clubs in the district. Under the leadership of Ms. Maria Lewis at the junior high school level, and Mrs. Dorothy Walcott at the high school level, Soror Randolph was an active member of Future Business Leaders of America. At an early age she horned her leadership skills by holding executive positions in those organizations.
Planning food sales and bake sales, community service projects like roadside clean-up and beach clean-up. Those organizations aided her in the development of her leadership skills.
Serving as the Supply Non-Commissioned Officer for the 631 st Engineer Detachment deployed to Afghanistan in 2003 – 2004 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Soror Randolph was instrumental in organizing and executing 20 th Anniversary activities, in July 2023, for the members of the deployed unit. She also served as an active member of the Virgin Islands National Guard 50th Anniversary Committee.

Soror Randolph is serving over 30 years in the Virgin Islands Army National Guard. She holds the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Four in the Quartermaster Branch. Soror Randolph is a Diamond Life Member of Delta Sigma Sorority Inc. She is a proud mother of 2 boys and a devoted wife to Alvin Randolph. She loves God, her family, and people. She is committed to being a God fearing and productive citizen.
